Intellectual Property – IP – rights are the rights you have relating to the stuff you (or somebody else) created. The brand you came up with, the tool you invented, the print you designed, the software you developed, the new summer hit you composed.

STILL LEAVING IT IN THE CLOSET?

I'm standing up for my rights!

What rights do I have?

Only you can use it.
Only you can sell it.
Only you can take credit for it.

(or whomever you allow.)

Not so fast, young grasshopper! Whether or not you have rights depends on the type of intellectual property we’re talking about. Each property is protected in a different way. If it’s a song, for instance, there’s some rights you have from the moment you created it. If it’s a trademark, not so much – specially in Brazil.

Types of Intellectual Property:

Music, movies, architecture, books, photography, dance, illustration, graffiti, painting.

William Inge (or somebody else)

Besides trademarks and patents, it also covers designs, geographical indications and trade secrets.

“Do what you love and you will end up not loving anything.”
